Flexible for any task

The high-performance Klaas elevating work platforms, Theo and Rudi, benefit from our decades of experience in the development of mobile cranes with aluminium booms and work platform function. Thanks to their simple handling and sophisticated technology, they can be quickly and conveniently set up and dismounted using the control console. The low-maintenance rope technology enables telescoping under load, meaning that even difficult to access work areas can easily be reached.

Since the introduction of the Euro 6 standard, the elevating work platforms have been set up on a sturdy Nissan Cabstar, which meets the emission values under this standard and hence may also be driven in inner cities without restrictions.

The Klaas boom system

The endlessly rotatable boom consists of high-strength aluminium profiles made from a special alloy and is produced in the stir welding process. It thus provides a strength as if milled from solid metal, a long service life and low maintenance costs. Thanks to its low net weight, the Theo achieves outstanding reach values, as every kilogram less in the mast benefits the range and load capacity.

The patented Klaas winch technology enables quick and secure telescoping under load – even when the boom is inclined at a flat angle. As the cables are guided and electrically monitored, slack ropes and skipping are prevented. An integrated electronic length measurement constantly records the current extension length of the boom and uses the data to calculate the maximum possible load capacity. The rope technology used is low maintenance and very easily accessible.

The Rudi has an additional cage arm. This makes the jib more flexible and enables a wide range of applications.

The Klaas support system

Pressing a button on the basket control station starts the set-up process and automatic self-levelling. This ensures that all the outriggers have the same pressure and that the appliance is perfectly sturdy. Furthermore, the L-shape of the outriggers guarantees the best possible stability. Thanks to the fully hydraulic support system, it is possible to move each single outrigger infinitely and accurately into position. Their long, vertical cylinders save them from being laboriously propped up on uneven terrain. As the outrigger widths can also be infinitely adjusted, even scaffolding, hedges or narrow alleys do not create an obstacle. The hydraulic lines are integrated into the outrigger beams so that they are protected from falling objects.

The ASC control system permanently monitors the stability of the appliance in platform mode and shows this via the remote control. At the same time it also takes changing wind or ground conditions into account.

Theo25 and Rudi21 have a city support where the extension beams are only extended on one side. The outriggers facing the traffic are not extended and remain within the vehicle contour. This means that the platforms can also be safely erected in urban areas without massively interfering with traffic. Even with the outriggers extended on 1 side, Theo and Rudi reach almost their maximum projection values to the broadly supported side.

The Klaas platform control

Both the Theo and the Rudi are equipped with an ultra-modern safety control system (PLC) made by an established manufacturer in the platform sector, which was customised for the Klaas elevating work platforms. A modern CAN BUS control block with extremely sensitive joysticks enables particularly precise work and prevents the boom from swinging dangerously.

The basket control station with integrated plastic cover has been optimally tailored to the operator’s needs in terms of ergonomics and feel. It is easy to operate thanks to the direct selection of the most important functions and clear visualisation on the display. All the key operating statuses of the elevating work platform can be read at a glance.
